About

I was born in 1965 in Jalisco, a state on the west coast of Mexico, and I grew up in Colima, where I started to paint.

Here - at the age of 12 - I approached painting under the guidance of master Jorge Chavez Carrillo.

Later, studying Graphic Art at the University of Guadalajara, I fell in love with modern and contemporary art thanks to master Gustavo Aranguren.

In late '80s, I moved to Spain and then to Italy, working in graphic and advertising companies, collaborating with set designers and photographers. In these years, I continued to paint, developing a peculiar personal technique.

Since 1989, I have displayed my works in collective and personal exhibitions in Spain, Italy and Mexico. Besides, I dedicated to study afro-cuban percussions, and I started playing in latino-american music groups.

Since 2002, I have been organizing creative workshops based on the use of colors and rhythm in Milan, where I have lived for a long time and - in the last years - in Piedmont, close to the Alps, where I am living now.

For me, painting is transforming energy.

I use sand, a natural primordial and changeable element, as a catalyst, capable of creating unexpected textures and reflections.

I patiently apply multiple thin layers of color by dabbing quickly, with a constant rhythm, like a mantra.

I observe color vibrations with quiet mind, since nothing is still, everything is transforming, everything is movement.
